It was another day of Kotetsu teasing Barnaby. Normally he would be saying he needs to eat better, get out more or relax. But not today. Today was different. Today was Valentine's Day. And Kotetsu already had someone in mind for Barnaby. This was something that Kotetsu has made clear for several days.

But today's teasing got it on repeat. "You want a chocolate from Evie," was Kotetsu manta for the day. So badly that occasionally he would poke Barnaby's arm and shoulder. And if he didn't pay attention would even poke him in the cheek.

"No I don't!" was always Barnaby's answer.

"Um hum," Kotetsu said as he leaned back in his chair. "I heard she already gave chocolates to the other heroes," he said.  Barnaby's shoulders teased up.  "Fire emblem even sent out a picture of his," Kotetsu continued.  Barnaby's fingers began coming into fist.  "And a note that she even made one for John," Kotetsu laughed. "Can't believe she made a treat for Sky High's dog! Wonder what she is going to make for us."

"Why would I care! I don't care what she does! I wouldn't want a chocolate from her anyway!" Barnaby finally snapped as he began screaming at Kotetsu.

"Oh.." A low voice broke through their argument. Both the men turned around to see Evelyna standing in the doorway. Immediately their hands dropped to their sides, Barnaby collapsed in his chair and didn't move his eyes from the floor. While Kotetsu began stroking the back of his head and scanning the room. "Guess you wouldn't want this than," Evelyna said before pulling two boxes of similar size out of the small shopping bag she had. Both of them caught her moving to the trash can with a box wrapped in a red ribbon leading the way.

Kotetsu catches her hand. "Whoaaa now. Bunny may not want it but no reason to waste such a nicely wrapped up treat!" Kotetsu says as he takes the box from her hand. "I'll take this!" He declares.

"Are you sure? I didn't design that one for you," Evelyna quietly questioned as she watched Kotetsu.

"Yep. Wouldn't have taken it if I wasn't," Kotetsu declared confidently. Though he was surprised how much Evelyna was still pulling back into her scarf.

Evelyna put out her hand with the other box. "Ok. Um...Here's the one I made for you," Evelyna said as she gave him the box with a green ribbon.

"Pretty!! They are done up similar with little stickers that have our names on them!" Kotetsu cheered. He tried to get her energy level back up to what it normally was and even played at pointing out what he could

"Yeah," Evelyna said as her smile was becoming meek.  "You two are partners so I wanted them to work together as gifts," she explained.

"Aww! How thoughtful! Thank you Evie," Kotetsu cheered trying to keep the mood up. He gave her a light hug.

Evelyna patted Kotetsu's back, "You're welcome." She walked over the receptionist that sat across from them. She pulled out a small bag. "Thanks for dealing with them," Evelyna said quietly. The woman smirk and took her gift. Evelyna quickly left after that.

Kotetsu glanced back at his partner, who was still inspecting the floor. "Well that was about as sucky timing as you can get," Kotetsu began. "But atleast I got some handmade and delivered chocolates!" Kotetsu almost cheered. Barnaby's eyes narrowed as his fist clenched. Kotetsu did not notice as his mind turned to the first chocolate he had received from someone else in a long time. He flipped the lid off his box. "Neat!! Its my insignia! That is great! I wonder how she did that," Kotetsu cheered as he inspected the chocolate. He took a huge bite out of the thick chocolate present. He was enjoying his before Barnaby could see all of it. Leaving him guessing at the entire design of the gift. Though Kotetsu continued to make several sounds to show his clear love for it.

"You're going to get fat old man. Eating all of it like that," Barnaby chimed in before Kotetsu could take another bite.

"I am not!" Kotetsu pouted.

"Yes you are. You're waist is already 8 cm bigger than it was at the last weigh in. And you don't exercise enough," Barnaby listed off his normal annoyances with Kotetsu.

"Is not! You're just jealous," Kotetsu pouted as he spun away in his chair.

"I am not jealous of an old man like you! Go ahead and check for the measurements yourself!" Barnaby bantered back.

"Fine!" Kotetsu shouted. He put his chocolate back in the box and put it in the desk before storming off to bathroom. Barnaby scans over Kotetsu's desk. After a few moments Kotetsu made his way back from bathroom. "I'm fine!" he declared.

"If you say so old man. I'm leaving for the day," Barnaby declared.  He hurried past Kotetsu with the bags of candies and gifts from his fans.

"Hey!" Kotetsu tries to shout after him but Barnaby ignores it. Kotetsu sighed and walked back to his desk. "Hey! The pink box is gone," Kotetsu shouted after scanning the spot he left it. He looks at receptionist who gave a guiding glances at Barnaby's desk. "Hehe," escaped Kotetsu's mouth as a devilish expression came over him.

Barnaby came through the door to his apartment. He leaves most of the gift in the bag by the door but removed her box and placed it on the little table next to his chair. A quick trip to the kitchen for a glass of wine and back to the chair.  He took a deep breath and opened the box.  Like he guessed it was his insignia. But she had made it out of a dark chocolate and somehow managed little pink sections for it. It was placed in a very lush red fabric better than any jewelry case let alone chocolate box. The bunny insignia fit perfectly in its padded spot braced for walking around throughout the day. Though for some reason it seem thinner than the one he saw Kotetsu beginning to devour. When he put the lid down he noticed a small note folded over in it. 'I know how you watch your calories so I tried to keep it as thin as I could. Still I only managed to get it down to two serving sizes of chocolate. Please enjoy at your leisure. signed Evelyna (because I know you prefer it that way too)' it read.   Barnaby did not notice as his forehead wrinkled from his eyebrows or the water coming to the corner of his eyes. The slight sniffle to his caused his to touch it before burying his head in his hand. "Idiot," was the last thing he muttered that night as he ate the entire chocolate bunny insignia.
This is how Barnaby, Evelyna and Kotetsu spent their first Valentine's Day. I'm going off the Japanese traditions for this one. Mainly the belief that women/girls give the chocolate gift on Valentine's Day. Well Evie is new to town and the custom so she did handmade gifts for all her friends regardless of gender. (And a dog safe treat for Jon. No chocolate for dogs!) But she is also a believer that if people say they don't want gifts you don't give them gifts.

At this point in their group relationship- Kotetsu thinks Barnaby and her are cute together. Barnaby and Eve argue a lot. Practically everytime they try to talk. And Barnaby isn't admitting that the thought that she can be cute when you see her face is coming to mind more often.
